Braces Treatment

Braces treatment, also known as orthodontic treatment, is a dental procedure designed to correct the alignment and positioning of teeth and jaws to improve both the aesthetics and functionality of a person's smile. Here's a brief overview of braces treatment:

Purpose:

  • Alignment Correction: The primary goal of braces treatment is to correct misaligned or crooked teeth, creating a straight and properly aligned smile.
  • Bite Correction: Braces can also address bite issues, such as overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites, to improve the way the upper and lower teeth fit together.

Components:

  • Brackets: Small, square-shaped attachments that are bonded to the front surface of each tooth.
  • Bands: Metal rings that encircle certain teeth and are used to anchor the braces.
  • Archwires: Thin metal wires that are threaded through the brackets and provide the force needed to move the teeth.
  • Elastics: Small rubber bands that attach to the brackets to apply additional pressure for specific adjustments.

Types of Braces:

  • Traditional Metal Braces: Made of stainless steel, they are the most common type and are highly effective for various orthodontic issues.
  • Ceramic Braces: Similar to traditional braces but with tooth-colored or clear brackets, making them less noticeable.
  • Lingual Braces: Placed on the inside (tongue side) of the teeth, making them nearly invisible from the outside.
  • Clear Aligners: Transparent plastic trays, such as Invisalign, that gradually move teeth into position and are removable for eating and oral hygiene.
